VIRTUAL WORKSHOP
June 23, 2022
11 a.m. - 1 p.m.
It’s time to say yes to your personal growth.
Making the personal and organizational commitment to grow in equity and inclusion-based understanding requires intentional engagement with a wide variety of learning opportunities. This interactive workshop is one such opportunity to take essential concepts surrounding microaggressions and help you turn them into improved policy, practice, and procedure.
Designed for individuals at every level of an aging services organization, participants will gain a more nuanced understanding of microaggressions and how they manifest within personal and organizational experiences and spaces. Additionally, participants will be able to explore tangible ways to improve these experiences and spaces. Join us as we explore specific examples and tips for how to identify, minimize, and respond to microaggressions in real, everyday situations.
This program will be held virtually on Zoom.
Help us champion diverse, equitable, and inclusive communities in which to age!

Founder and Lead Trainer
United for Change Consulting, LLC
Minneapolis, MN
Born and raised in the Midwest by two white women, Joanne had the unique experience of growing up in an all-white community as a biracial child who was perceived by others as black. Her journey navigating life in this complex world of race, culture, and ethnicity while working simultaneously through her own complicated racial identity development led to her passion of educating and training around issues of intercultural competency, social justice, and anti-oppression work. Joanne is currently a doctoral candidate at Saint Mary's University of Minnesota in the Leadership Program, holds a master’s degree in higher education from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities, and has over 15 years of facilitation experience. She believes that providing individuals and organizations with the awareness, knowledge, and skills necessary to work effectively across cultures leads to environments where all are affirmed in the entirety of their identities and able to reach their full potential. When Joanne's not training on behalf of United for Change Consulting, LLC. or serving as the Vice President for Equity and Inclusion at Augsburg University in Minneapolis MN, she can be found with her 10-year-old son, camping, or playing in a softball league with friends.
